Message in a bottle

It's Sunday morning and before I've even finished my first cup of coffee and one Blue's Clue's our day is already shaping up. What's next for us today? Walmart. Yuck! But it is time to stock up on staples and it has to be done. On top of our regular grocery shopping I've decided to get all the ingredients needed to make some yummy Christmas cookies for our neighbor's and friend's.

My mom was visiting last week and we watched an Alton Brown show on Christmas cookies. He made these beautiful Chocolate Peppermint Pinwheel Cookies. Here is the link for anyone interested http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/chocolate-peppermint-pinwheel-cookies-recipe2/index.html.

We also have to pick up a few things for my first photo shoot. Next weekend I am going to take some pictures of my friend Nancy's new little girl. I am so excited and nervous. If I get it together today, I plan to "set up" in our living room and practice with some of Stella's baby dolls. Wish me luck.

This past week is what has inspired me to write this blog. I find that I have a tendency to create way more work for myself than what is needed. This usually comes in the wake of creative expression. A stay at home mom of two little ones needs a creative outlet. The day to day of finding shoes, zipping up jackets, deciphering the needs of the needy, doing the mountainous loads of laundry, finding foods they will eat, crafts that are fun and "educational" and then cleaning it all up that the end of the day leaves a woman in need of something more.

So on top of all of that craziness I find myself creating situations that no sane woman would create. For example, I am the lady that is getting her house ready for guests and decides to clean out all of the closets in the house before they arrive. I am the lady that is getting out Christmas decorations while my husband is out of town for a week and decides it is a good idea to make that adorable skirt for my daughter that I saw on another little girl earlier in the week. And then also decides my nieces each need one too. And bows to match.

Who does this? The desperate woman in need of something of her own. I am hoping this will be my place to share all of this. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes crazy, always honest.
